Sony's US PS3 shortage to be resolved by May
In news that may be slightly worrying to those waiting for the PS3 to arrive in Europe, Sony has announced that the current shortage of PS3s in North America will be resolved by May.
Yes, I know that the distribution channels are different for delivering to the States, and delivering to Europe, but an apparent shortage in the US around the time that other parts of the world will start to demand stock is a tad concerning.
Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, told Reuters in an interview that the console was still out of stock in some areas 3 months after its launch.
Will the same be repeated here? Product shortage can either cause the hype to crank up, or leave a lot of very disgruntled fans waiting for stock to arrive.
“Our goal is to fill shelves across the United States. Our goal is not to have empty shelves, it’s to have full shelves. If we have empty shelves, that’s one less consumer who could have bought a PlayStation 3,” Tretton said.
Here too, please.
