One thought on “YouTube Video of the Day – Sean Connery as you've never seen him before…”
Nothing complicated (apart from trailer) here. Boorman just made an allegorical film about an utopian world meeting the savage nature of man (represented by Connery). Utopian world is shielded by an invisible force field and barbarians (Connery again) try to get in. He (Connery) is driven by false, sordid gods but then again utopia needs to wisen up (Well, actually there’s no time for that, as it’s simply to be destroyd by Connery). As far as Connery taking the role, he has always stated that an actors job is to act, the same stance that Gene Hackman has always taken. Nice to see this piece of by-gone psychedelia though. The movie itself is not half-bad if you can forgive the 60’s paraphanelia. Remember: this is the same man (Boorman that is) that gave us “The Deliverance”.
