geometry.jpgAs the GDC 2007 conference gets underway in San Francisco, Microsoft has announced that it’s tripling the game size limit for Xbox Live Arcade, from 50MB to 150MB.

The company says it’ll let developers do more with the service, while still keeping things manageable for players downloading the games over a broadband connection. It’s no co-incidence that Microsoft has also announced a new Xbox 360 memory unit with 512MB of space, compared to the old one’s 64MB.

For a limited time, the new 512MB unit will come with the excellent Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved game preloaded on it. In the US, the unit will cost $49.99.

At GDC, Microsoft is also showing off a bunch of new casual games for Xbox Live Arcade, including music rhythm game Boom Boom Rocket, online-multiplayer game Pinball FX, plus the likes of 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures, Eets: Chowdown, and Jetpac Refuelled.
