NBC Universal and News Corporation team up for YouTube killer

It can’t be much fun being in charge of YouTube at the moment. Not only is the site being sued by Viacom for $1bn for copyright infringement by its users, but it’s about to come up against a hefty rival.
NBC Universal and News Corporation have announced plans to launch their own video service, involving distributing content to embedded players on sites including MSN, AOL, MySpace and Yahoo. What content? Oh, you know, The Simpsons, 24, Saturday Night Live…
Due to launch later this year, the service has already signed up over a dozen broadcast networks and two film studios (that’d be 20th Century Fox and Universal, presumably), as well as a bevvy of big advertisers. Read the full story on Techscape.
