Create your own battery-powered design classics
It’s easy enough (if you have the cash) to buy a piece of designer lighting on the high street – but how do you fancy the challenge of building some? You can with the Designer Emulation Kit by Mark McKenna for Emulate.
It’s a kit – just like your old Airfix planes – but the difference is that you’re building a piece of classic design. And when you have built it, you can power it up with a battery. The kit allows you to make Achille Castiglioni’s Arco Lamp (the one pictured here), along with Ingo Maurer’s Lucellino and Richard Sapper’s Tizio.
Just snap out the parts, follow the instructions and you’ll have some desk-sized design. You can pick up the kit online from Colette, priced at 40 Euros (around £27).
