LG unveils Volkswagen Beetle-themed portable music player

You hear the words “Beetle-themed portable music player” and you think of Herbie – or at the very least, something slightly retro or quirky. Sadly, reality doesn’t match up to expectations with this effort from LG.

The LG Beetle-themed player (there doesn’t seem to be a model name as yet) has just been announced at the Seoul Motor Show. You’ll know it by its badges – and those front and rear VW logos seem to be just about the only sign of its affiliation with the German car maker.

But it’s not a bad player, available in three colours, with between 2GB, 4GB and 8GB of storage and compatibility with MP3, WMA, OGG, MPEG-4, and WMV 9 file. There’s also a 2.6-inch LCD for track details and movie playback.

No news on a price as yet – or if this will make it out of Korea.
