Virgin Radio first to make content available on Wii and PS3
In a first for a UK radio station, Virgin Radio is to make its content available on the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 games consoles.
The station claims that it’s possible thanks to the MP3-streaming capacity of its Virgin Radio Player.
As both consoles have Flash capabilities, they can handle this MP3 stream.
The service will sit alongside Xtreme, Classic Rock, and Groove, and will also allow listeners to purchase CDs and tickets, buy downloads, and watch videos.
“People are used to having control in their media consumption. A lot of that comes down to us offering the right content, at the right time in the right way. The content will always be the same whether you’re accessing it through Sky, Virgin Media, online, on DAB or now through your games console,” said James Cridland, Virgin Radio’s director of digital media.
