I’m sure I’m not along in spending half of the day browsing the web with a smartphone. So Xomobo – claimed to be the world’s first mobile smartphone content portal – could well find a decent-sized market.

The site offers users of Window Mobile devices browse-and-buy access to a range of business and entertainment content direct to the handset. It will be followed by Symbian, Palm and BlackBerry versions later this year. Available at launch will be games, business and consumer applications, themes, videos, ringtones and images – all direct to handset, with no need to sync to a PC to access. And the site has been set up so that content purchases can be billed through your operator or via a credit card.

According to Keith France, Managing Director of XOmobo, said: “Smartphones, from Microsoft Mobile to Symbian, are forming an ever increasing part of the mobile handset market and these device’s easy to use Internet access, increased processing power and larger screen sizes mean that they’re ideal for purchasing and consuming content and applications.”
