Manhunt 2 fallout continues
As you’d expect, following the BBFC’s decision to refuse Manhunt 2 a ratings certificate here in the UK, Shiny Media’s gaming blogs have been getting their teeth into the issue (Gary had his say here yesterday).
WiiWii reports on the fact that industry body ELSPA has welcomed the ban, claiming that it”demonstrates that we have a games ratings system in the UK that is effective”. WiiWii has also rounded up its top five previous censorship decisions, involving games like Wolfenstein 3D, Carmageddon and Silent Hill.
Meanwhile, over on PSPSPS, they’ve made the point that Manhunt 2 has been banned, yet ultra-violent torture movie Hostel Part II has been passed. I’m assuming it’s because of the latter’s important public service message (‘Don’t stay in hotels where they film snuff movies’)…
