O2 launches Sierra wireless USB modem
O2 has launched the Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U USB modem, designed to offer “mobile professionals” (as opposed to us amateur users) an always-on notebook connection via the company’s GPRS, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA neworks.
O2 claims it’s easy to configure, using your O2 data sim and the provided software. And it is easy on your notebook – it has its own in-built battery, so the Sierra isn’t sucking juice from your overworked computer battery. Speeds expected are up to 384Kbps within 3G coverage and up to 53.6Kbps on GPRS and it runs on both Windows and Mac operating systems.
If you want one, it retails for £120, with data charges obviously separate.
