TurboLinux Wizpy media player – media player and portable Linux operating system
The TurboLinux Wizpy media player is set to launch worldwide this month, offering your own portable Linux operating system, along with a media player for both audio and video playback.
The TurboLinux Wizpy contains a PC-bootable version of the Linux operating system. When plugged into a PC’s USB port, you can boot up the operating system, using all the settings, passwords and bookmarks it contains, so you always get the same system, no matter what machine you’re working on. The idea is to try Linux – for those who aren’t convinced or are worried about the effort of a full installation.
As well as that, you also get the media functionality, which include a 1.7-inch OLED screen, music playback in Ogg, MP3 and WMA formats, XviD and MPEG4 video playback, JPEG viewer, text viewer and FM radio. There’s 4GB of storage.
Price is expected to be around the £140 mark. A distribution deal for the UK is apparently “under negotiation”, so it should be here in the next couple of months. The rest of the world should see it this month.
