Hypertec launches Firestorm range of external hard drives

Hypertec has unveiled its Firestorm range of external hard drives, with a choice of a desktop hard drive, dual desktop and the notebook unit, with capacities ranging from 80GB to 1TB and with the ability to transfer a 1GB file in under 2 minutes.

The Firestorm Dual Desk Top comes in two versions, both use SATA drives and can be connected via USB 2.0 and used as a normal, high-capacity, hard disk and treated as one volume (JBOD). The second version can also be connected by eSATA using a SATA interface (PCI-X) and can additionally support RAID0 and RAID1. The Firestorm Notebook unit is a USB 2.0 Plug-and-Play device, available with 40GB – 160GB capacity and with a zipped wallet for protection when in transit.

All are housed in aluminium casings and feature Syncback freeware software for backup and system restoration, as well as Truecrypt software to encrypt data for more security. The Dual Desktop is priced between £441 – £671, the Desktop from £53 to £224 and the Notebook from £50 to £102.
