Sony unveils first HDV Walkman – GV-HD700E
Right, hands up, who has been waiting desperately for a video Walkman for camcorder tapes? I’m guessing that’s not many of you. But it’s still not stopped Sony introducing the GV-HD700E.
Yes, it’s a portable viewer/monitor for HDV and DV tapes while you’re on the move. Features include a 7-inch widescreen (16:9) LCD display, an all-scan function to ensure that 100% of the recorded frame area is displayed on the monitor, up to six LCD panel setups on the screen for easy browsing, HDMI amongst a range of connectivity options and the ability to view in x.v.Colour.
There’s also a separate HD/SD component output in addition to the HDMI output, an i.LINK port for direct recording and playback of HDV and DV signals and analogue video and audio recording/monitoring via S Video and RCA input connectors. Probably of use for professionals – I’m sure the rest of us might live without it. Expect it from September, price to be confirmed.
