Strong PS3 sales boost revenues at Game
No, that’s right – strong sales and PS3 in the same sentence. Sony’s console has received a constant bashing since its launch earlier this year, but UK high-street chain Game isn’t joining the lynch-bandwagon.
Instead, Game has announced that its sales for the first 22 weeks of 2007 are up 45.6% compared to the same period last year, with the PS3 accounting for 20% of that increase. Although the sceptical reaction would be to wonder how that compares to Wii and Xbox 360, or even PlayStation 2.
Anyhow, Game is using its loot to open 50 more shops this year, and reckons it’ll trouser a net profit of £1-3 million from 2007. So at least someone is making money from PS3…
