Toshiba launches Satellite U300 and Satellite Pro U300 ultra portable notebooks

Toshiba has launched two new ultra portable notebooks, both weighing in at under 2kg – the Satellite U300 and Satellite Pro U300 series.

The difference between the two (apart from price) is minimal. In terms of looks, the U300 features a metallic onyx-blue casing as well as a silver palm rest inside, while the Satellite Pro U300 comes with a titanium silver casing. In terms of specification, both are similar, featuring Intel Centrino Duo processors, a 13.3-inch TruBrite WXGA display, 1.3 megapixel web camera, DVD SuperMulti drive, multi-card reader and Wi-Fi.

The standard model has a larger hard drive and increased memory, while the Pro replaces Vista Home Premium for Business and adds in the Toshiba hard disc drive protection system with full 3-axis motion to help safeguard the notebook hard drive against possible damage resulting from accidental dropping, impact or vibration. The Satellite U300 starts at £595, while the Pro U300 is available now from £649 Both prices exclude VAT.
