Microsoft cuts $50 off the price of a Zune

zune-cheaper.jpgYesterday, no doubt to capitalise on and fend off Apple’s iPod frenzy, Microsoft’s official Zune blog announced a Zune price cut to $199 with immediate effect.

Not quite as impressive or infuriating to early adopters as Apple’s vast $200 iPhone price cut, but it should help Microsoft claw back a tiny fraction of market share in the MP3 playing world.

Zune Insider also reports that “customer satisfaction” with the 30GB Zune is “around 94%” which just makes it a bit more infuriating that we’d have to shell out a very unsatisfactory £250 on a return to New York in order to buy the UK-avoiding player.
