The Ruffneck Zone 1 explosion proof computer is 'the bomb'
Computer Dynamics has revealed this odd-looking portable computer – odd-looking thanks to being a bomb proof tank of a laptop.
It’s operated by touch screen, so there’s no need to worry about also carrying a USB mouse into a dangerzone and having to try and find a nice flat surface to put it on.
The specs aren’t amazing – it uses a Pentium Mobile 1.6GHz processor, has a 15″ screen, fits up to 2GB of RAM and a 40GB hard drive, but seeing as most people who use this will be getting given it for free from their commanding officer, that’s not so much of a worry.
The Zone 1 also comes with optional internal heaters, in a novel twist on PC design, letting users stationed in rubbish cold bits of the world happily use it outside when monitoring and logging changes in local penguin populations.
