Creative has sold 25 million MP3 players now, according to…Creative
For a company battling the MP3 player giant Apple, 25 million sales is extremely impressive stuff. Staff in all the Creative offices across the world are popping the Cava over the news, and Waitrose has already reported profits rising by more than 40% in the last 24 hours for bubbly.
Recognised as the second-largest supplier of the electronic music-storing whatchamacallits, the announcement “marks a major milestone in Creative history, as our player unit volume exceeds the combined unit sales from some of the biggest names in consumer electronics”, according to Sim Wong Hoo, chairman and CEO at Creative.
The company launched its first flash-based player in 1999, and the next year saw their entry in HDD-based models. Someone better check on Steve Jobs, and measure his pulse rate, quick!
