Kindle gets hacked in near record time
It’s the ultimate geek race. Something that runs on electricity comes out and the gloves are off to see who can crack it wide open first.
And Kindle has fallen, mere weeks after the $400 digital book reader thing arrived in the US. A clever man called Igor Skochinsky pulled off the trick, managing to get Kindle to read standard format Mobi digital books.
Igor complains how it all works in a slightly complex fashion, but, basically, if you have or are thinking of getting a Kindle, rest assured it’s just as hackable as pretty much everything else out there. My microwave, for example, now has an LED timer that flashes red instead of the standard green.
