CES 2008: Sony promotes the α200 as the affordable DSLR
Sony hopes to tempt more of us away from the compacts and into the world of the DSLR with the Sony α200.
The α200 promises powerful noise reduction and image processing techniques, as well as a 10.2 effective megapixel CCD sensor with new noise reduction circuitry. The BIONZ image processing engine is also enhanced for lower picture noise in all shooting situations. Sensitivity is now ISO 3200 and there is Super SteadyShot optical image stabilisation, the D-Range Optimiser for more balanced exposure and contrast, a 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD and an InfoLITHIUM NP-FM500H rechargeable battery pack that allows for up to 750 shots between charges
The α200 Digital SLR camera will be available in kit form with an 1870mm lens from February 2008. No price as yet.
