MidemNet 2008: Reactable scoops musical innovation prize
Listen up musicians. The triangle is no longer the coolest instrument in the world. It’s been knocked down to second place by the Reactable, a Spanish-designed piece of technology that lets multiple users create music by moving shapes around an interactive table.
The device was just voted the winner of the Music Ally / MidemNet New Business Showcase – a competition for innovative music ideas that’s voted for by delegates to the MidemNet conference.
“It’s both simple – even a baby would be able to make sounds from the device – and complex, bringing electronic music to life as users interact with each other and the instrument,” says Paul Brindley, MD of Music Ally, which organised the competition. Watch the video demo above: you’ll want one.
