Sony BMG to offer DRM-free online music subscription service?
Suddenly, music labels seem to be getting an idea of what people want, with Sony BMG’s boss talking up an online music subscription service which could be DRM-free.
According to Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, the service would be unlimited access for a flat rate fee – most interestingly, offering all the label’s output for ‘all digital players, including Apple’s iPod’ and you ‘would own them even after the subscription expired.’
Sounds like a winner to me, especially with a quoted monthly fee of between six and eight Euros. More on this as it develops.
