Top Gun Anthem free for Guitar Hero III
I’m fighting back the tears watching this clip trying to tell you that Activision is giving away a free downloadable version of the Top Gun Anthem for Guitar Hero III. The only trouble is I’m not sure if it’s because I’m laughing or crying.
The song will be available on Thursday from the Playstation Store and Xbox Live to celebrate the Fourth of July and what better way to do so than in the company of the unbelievably brilliantly named Steve Stevens in the silver jump suit, borrowing both Anita Dobson and Brian May’s hair for the occasion, and the man himself, Harold Faltermeyer on the keys in the loose-fit suit, both of whom stand in an aircraft hanger full of US naval jets? Does it get any better?
Yes, on Thursday I can die a happy man when I pull the guitar sling over my head and make that axe sing just like it did back in 1987.
Did people at the time think the pair looked silly? Surely it’s not just hindsight? Whatever the case, download it on Thursday – the song that Guitar Hero was made for.
