Asus announce "brown" Eee PC
Another day, another new ultra-portable laptop from Asus, and another one of the 23 secret Eee models revealed. Today’s is one of the most high-end – the S101 which has been described as an “Ultimate” Eee PC.
It’s pretty high-end stuff for an Asus so there’s suggestions that it won’t actually carry the Eee PC branding as obviously ‘Eee’ makes one think of cheap netbooks and, er, monitors and not high-end luxury.
The S101 is a little more exclusive (ie: expensive) than that. Whilst sharing similar specs to it’s Eee PC brothers and sisters, such as a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, it is much thinner, ranging between only 16 and 21mm in depth… and it contains either a 32GB or 64GB solid-state drive, depending on which model you go for.
Perhaps the most unusual thing though is that Asus have decided to make the S101… brown. Which I guess is a… brave… choice for a gadget like this… does anyone know how those brown Zune MP3 players sold?
As you might expect, the S101 is going to be a little pricier than your average Eee – with the 32GB model going for $699, and the 64GB going for $899 – about £350 and £450 respectively.

Where are Asus going with the EEE range? They were on to such a good thing with the 701, now they seem to have a little bit of every niche covered.
