Onkyo launches top-of-range TX-SR876 and TX-NR906 receivers
Onkyo has announced the latest in its line of home cinema receivers, launching the high-end TX-SR876 and TX-NR906 units boasting THX Ultra2 Plus (like the TX-SR806) and built-in ISF video calibration.
The £1,000 TX-SR876 offers seven channels with 200W per channel output, four HDMI inputs and two outputs, 1080p upscaling and conversion, decoder for Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD, three Texas Instruments Aureus 32-bit DSP chips, Burr-Brown PCM1796 192KhZ/24-bit DACs, and music optimiser.
The £1,400 TX-NR906 pumps the output up to 220W per channel, and also features separate transformers for audio and video, ensuring near interference-free audio. It can stream audio over an Ethernet network, and features gold-plated AV inputs, outputs, and speaker terminals.
Controls on both units allow for super-fine calibration of video characteristics including brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and gamma levels for each video input. Yes, you can plug-and-go with these systems, but they also give a lot of control to those needing it.
Both units will be available in September.
