webwise-phorm-trials-bt-uk.JPGBT has announced some official-this-time new trials of Phorm’s controversial Webwise monitoring software – starting from tomorrow.

A select few BT users will be invited to join the latest and above-board trial of the ad-serving, browsing-monitoring software, with the pleasing result of seeing better targeted ads for Viagra and herbal equivalents as they mess about online.

This trial, if successful and if no internet warriors go crazy and burn BT HQ to the ground over the possible privacy infringements, will lead to a full roll out of Phorm across the BT network. But don’t panic – as we’ve previously reported, all BT users will have to give their approval and clearly shown how to opt out from the tracking system if they wish.
