Nine out of ten kids want videogames for Christmas
If there was ever doubt that gaming had become well and truly mainstream, it must now be officially extinguished. Nine out of ten kids aged between eight and eleven want something game-related for Christmas – a game, console, or peripheral of some sort.
Music games were top of the list, with Guitar Hero World Tour topping the “want” chart with 17% of kids desiring it. Rock Band II was hot on its heels, followed by perennial favourite Mario Kart, and then Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party II.
Girls wanted DDR more than boys, who were quite keen on getting their hands on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Predictably, the top consoles that were owned already by the kids were the Wii, the DS and the PS2.
The survey was conducted between August 17th and 31st, and comprised of 965 people. The poll was undertaken by Weekly Reader Research.
