Sony shows off world's smallest full HD camcorder
It may look like something out of the garbage compactor in the Death Star but what you’re looking at is in fact the world’s smallest full HD camcorder as made and displayed by Sony at CEATEC in Tokyo.
The, as yet, unnamed little bundle of joy measures 3.2cm x 11.9cm x 6.3cm and weighs just 240g, not much more than a small can of tuna. The titanium body keeps it nice and light and, most likely, nice and expensive if it ever hits the shelves and the little fella comes with Sony’s ClearVid CMOS image sensor and Bionz processor for the usual good quality, noise-reduced, battery-efficient service. Images of the wee one with its clothes on after the jump.
It’s sometimes rather hard to tell whether these smallest, biggest, fastest, thinnest, most knobbly products will ever actually be available. Many of them are just for show and to prove that whichever company made them is better than all the others and could have them in a fight any day. Often they’re not viable; impractically expensive for the consumer.
However, in this case with the popularity of home-shot video and HD and the need to start making these things smaller and more portable, I have a feeling that Sony intend to deliver on this taster.
