The Zoom Bicycles Jet Stealth 80cc Bicycle Engine Kit, for weak-limbed environmentalists

zoom-bicycles-mounted-moped-engine-kit.jpgIf you’ve ever been caught out on your bike, riding into the wind, up a slight hill, almost in tears at how hard it is and WISHING with all your might that someone would invent a little engine to help you out at times like this, you’re in luck – here’s a little engine to help you out at times like that.

The Zoom Bicycles DIY engine enhancement kits come with anything from a 49cc to an 80cc engine to pop onto your bike yourself and eliminate all that tiresome pedalling, but the catch is the weight – the motor adds around 19lbs (8.6 kilos to you Euro-people) to the weight of your bike.

Meaning you’re going to find regular cycling tougher and will be more tempted to fire her up and cruise along at a top speed of 31mph, should you go for the high-end 80cc model.

Still, you can at least do your bit for the environment (“Look! I’m riding my bike to work!”) but without having to put in so much effort. Just cough really loudly and constantly to cover up the engine noise. Brilliant – and the cheapest model starts at only $109.

  • I think I’m the only person who read the full website details and noticed that the bottom it says that the displacement of the “80cc engine” is actually 66cc as determined by EPA tests. It also says that there are no actual 80cc engines on the market and that’s why they advertise it as 80cc because according to them there are no 66cc engines on the market either making it the fastest one either way.

  • If you use a motorized bike as a replacement for a car, then it is very energy efficient.
