mac-pro-new.jpgThe Mac Pro is all about power and today Apple has laid down two models, one with a quad-core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor and the other with two of them.

Both come with a 640GB HDD as standard with 3GB of RAM on one and 6GB on the other. Each also features the 18x double-layer SuperDrive and a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 graphics unit.

All of the specs are now much more easily upgradable with a redesign for the Mac Pro’s insides. It’s supposed to offer simple snap-in and out action – rather reminding of a Dutch lady I once met – which offer expansions of up to 32GB RAM, 4TB HDD and four PCI Express 2.0 expansion cards. The Pros will cost you £1,899 and £2,499.

Elsewhere, Apple improved the wireless AirPort Express to an AirPort Extreme with dual band 802.11n Wi-Fi support for £139 and the £379 auto-backing-up Time Capsule with the same connectivity specs and 1TB of storage. Both are PC compatible.
