Samsung unveil new "bada" smartphone platform to rival the iPhone and Android
Samsung have unveiled their new “bada” smartphone platform at a launch event in London today.
A build upon Samsung’s TouchWiz user-interface, bada looks set to be a feature rich OS to rival the iPhone and Android.
Interactivity is one of bada’s key selling points. bada will feature flash control, motion sensing, vibration control and face detection. Samsung hope that developers will jump on board to create a range of context aware applications for the platform.
With a big focus on user-specific configuration, the platform also looks to be big on cloud-data management, with plenty of back-end bada servers, a range of content management systems and easy-to-activate device synchronisation.
Dr Hosoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of the Media Solution
Center at Samsung Electronics, said: “In creating Samsung bada, I believe that Samsung will become a true leader in the mobile industry; offering a wider range of smartphone choices for consumers. At the same time, Samsung bada presents a powerful opportunity for developers to get their applications onto an unprecedented number of Samsung devices across the world.”
