CES 2010: Samsung's animated OLED identity card is equal parts cool and creepy

Here’s a pretty interesting spot from the folks over at Engadget. Samsung have been showing off a RFID enabled identification card.

At first glance, the Specimen Display Card Prototype looks like a pretty standard ID card. But put it up against an ISO 14443 RFID card reader and the whole thing goes a bit Blade Runner.

A small OLED display is activated, giving a 360 degree view of the card holder’s head. Sorry all you underage drinkers out there; making fake IDs is about to get a whole lot more complicated.

  • It’s like you take part in some kind of sci-fi movie in which all the protagonists are identified by little robots built in.

  • I am sure there is a way to fake that one too. Never underestimate the skills of underage drinkers.
