Star Wars: The Old Republic coming Spring 2011
If there are two things that almost universally set the hearts of uber-geeks a’ racing, it’s Star Wars and Massively Multiplayer Online RPG’s. So, sorry Mr Uber Geek, steel yourself for a potential heart attack, as word trickles in that the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG wont be ready for at least another YEAR.
CEO John Riccitello of publishers EA says that “One key driver is going to be the launch date of our major MMO. As it stands today, the game is making great progress towards a spring 2011 launch,” Riccitiello said.
Though it seems like such a date only exists in a galaxy far, far away, it’s good to see lots of screens, video and updates filtering through on The Old Republic. Developers Bioware obviously have great confidence in the project even with a year until release, so hopefully we can expect wondrous things from the title.
That said, look how long it took George Lucas to put the Phantom Menace together. We don’t need to remind you how THAT one turned out…
