“Eschewing the flash and gimmicks typical of gaming notebooks” says the ASUS press-release for the G73. And yet here we have a gaming laptop designed to look a bit like a stealth bomber. Hmmm, I’m sensing a whiff of “flash and gimmicks” here, but that’s OK, as this monster from ASUS looks like a PC gamers portable dream.

Boasting an Intel Core i7 processor, DirectX 11-capable ATI Radeon HD5870 graphics chip and support for up to 16GB of DDR3 system memory, this is one mean machine that’d easily go 12 rounds with Alienware’s top portable rig.

The 17.3 inch full HD LED-backlit laptop is ergonomically designed, with a tapered keyboard for maximum comfort over prolonged gaming sessions. There’s 1TB of storage onboard too, and a Blu-ray drive for HD movie viewing, with supprot for simulated 7.1 surround sound.

Perhaps best of all though, the G73 features a one-touch button for over-clocking the system, pushing the rig to its absolute limits to give you an edge when you need it most.

Available in early April, the ASUS G73 gaming laptop will set you back £1,899.
