Call of Duty: Black Ops revealed
Activision and Treyarch have today released the first info on the next entry into the Call of Duty series. Named Call of Duty: Black Ops, this latest entry into the veritable series of first-person war shooters will be released on the 9th November, 2010.
A teaser website has been opened here, with links to a development blog and a pre-order form.
Whereas Modern Warfare 2 was developed by Infinity Ward (with whom publishers Activision are currently locked into a bitter legal battle), this latest title has been developed by Treyarch, who last brought us the equally impressive Call of Duty: World at War.
So, what can we expect? Well, whereas previous Call of Duty games have focussed on specific conflicts (Europe in World War II, the Pacific in the mid 1940s), this Black Ops title is a little more vague. It could well be a game spanning many years and many conflicts, perhaps with an emphasis on more secretive, stealthy mechanics.
Enough to make you put down your Modern Warfare 2 Javelin missiles and crack open your can of camouflage paint? We’ll have more details after the first trailer goes live this evening.
