Opera chart.jpgAfter months of battling Apple to get the app onto the iPhone, the Opera Mini browser launched on the App Store on March 23rd. And what a launch it proved to be, with figures showing it was downloaded 1,023,380 times on its first day available alone.

The browser is already garnering rave reviews, with some users claiming that its data compression techniques are making their iPhone web-browsing experience up to six times faster, as well as keeping their data charges down.

“Today iPhone users have a choice, and, as the numbers show, they are eager to explore new and faster ways to surf the Web on the iPhone – especially during heavy Web traffic,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “With any widely available and frequently downloaded Opera product, we are appreciative of all the feedback we are getting, as it helps us to continually improve our product and better meet the needs of our users.”
