International iPad App Store goes live
The international iPad App Stores have gone live, meaning that early adopters who imported their Apple tablets from the States can now download apps directly from their device.
Until now, those who had bought their iPad’s from the American pre-order site had to download apps using iTunes and then sync them with their tablets. But now App Stores for each individual territory appear to have gone live, with reports from as far afield as the Netherlands and Australia saying that the store is now localised.
So far, the iPad is living up to Steve Jobs promise of being a capable gaming device, with seven of the top ten paid-for apps in the UK being games.
The top-ten free apps are a more mixed bag, with Shazam, the Financial Times and various Twitter apps rounding out the chart.
