If there’s one thing that’s probably pulling you away from your Farmville addiction at the moment, it’s probably the World Cup tournament. Sure, sitting around watching virtual cabbages grow may be your idea of fun (as is watching paint dry for some people), but why not try EA’s timely FIFA Superstars footie-themed Facebook app and get a just-for-kicks taste of what life for Fabio Capello must feel like right now?

A lite footie-managment sim at heart, FIFA Superstars mixes dugout tactics with social features and player trading to create a mash-up that is part Football Manager and part Pokemon.

Developers Playfish explain:

“Fans will be able to create a fantasy club side by collecting or trading players, challenging friends head-to-head and competing in leagues, or searching out broader leader boards to compete against the best. To capitalize on the worldwide football fever driven by the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, players can predict the outcomes of games in the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ to win valuable in-game coins.”
