Unlocked Dell Streak to cost as much as an iPad
If you were hoping that the promising Dell Streak iPad-rivalling tablet would have low price befitting of its small 5-inch form, we’re sad to announce that that wont be the case. The Streak has been priced up over at the Carphone Warehouse, and it’s not good news.
Set for a June 4th release, the Dell Streak will cost £429 unlocked, exactly the same as a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad. The handset does come free however on two contracts; £25 a month with mobile broadband or £35 a month with unlimited data and calls.
The 5 inch Android tablet looked a great alternative to an iPad, with its pocket friendly size, ability to make calls, Android 2.2 Froyo update in the pipeline and full flash support. However, the steep asking price will come as a disappointment to those hoping it would be more of a budget option to the iPad.
The Dell Streak also features a 5MP camera with LED Flash, a1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a VGA front-facing camera.

Dell Streak is one of the best tablets available in market…its display is really good and has good features for computing task.
Why bother with a Streak I brought one and the earpeice didn’t work on calls, replaced it…. same again. Rubbish phone
I would go further than that, CFW telesales are quite happy to sell as unlocked to any network then nasty surprise when O2 only. Full refund but what a waste of time. Just try getting cooperation from CFW technical support. Basically CFW advert is misleading.
I have seen loads of sites saying that the Carphone Warehouse is selling the Streak for £429 “unlocked”.
But after visiting 3 different stores and speaking to the Carphone Warehouse’s sales department twice, it would seem this isn’t the case.
Apparently, the £429 standalone “unlocked” offer is ACTUALLY for an O2 locked handset.
Not happy!
