Those hoping to save their pocket money for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Kinect motion-controlling kit had better start doubling their efforts, as the UK pricing for the unit has just been revealed. At £129.99, it’s not that much more than we had expected, but is still pretty much the same price as a whole new console. It’s due out on August 20th.

Microsoft will also be launching a new “Arcade” entry model, complete with built in Wi-Fi and 4GB hard-drive, priced at £149.99. A Kinect bundle with the console is also planned, costing £249.99 with a copy of Kinect Adventures thrown in.

“Kinect for Xbox 360 offers fantastic new ways to be entertained for the whole family,” said Chris Lewis, vice president, Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft Europe.

“With full body, voice and multiplayer play straight out of the box, Kinect is a unique way for everyone to enjoy controller-free fun and entertainment.”

What do you think of the Kinect unit now its UK pricing has been revealed? A little too pricey when you consider you can pick up a whole Wii console for around the same price? Or just right when you consider it’s the first time your body will truly do the talking in a video game? Let us know!

  • I saw on the news that the money they dumped at Shire was fake, to represent the money he had raised. It wasn’t the actual money.

  • This product looks so exciting all the possibilities it opens up for gaming and just browsing.
