It has been one of those days. After unveiling what might just be the coolest gadget of the year at IFA in the guise of the Galaxy Tab, Samsung seemed to have spoilt the party by giving it a price tag that’s way higher than its big rival the iPad.

So far today we have seen prices for the Tab ranging from an incredible £799.99 from Amazon through to £679.95 frokm Inkio.

Well the good(ish) news is that the Galaxy has just dipped below the £600 mark. Kudos to The Order which has the Tab at £599.99.

Seriously though does Samsung expect to sell any Tabs at all even at £600? The big hope has to be that the networks subsidise the Tab – like they do with other mobiles. Still though at £250-400 plus a monthly data charge I can’t see too many takers. Shame because it really is a rather great piece of kit.

  • The blog has a full of inofrmation which I have been looking for and not only this it also helps us in getting the correct facts and figures. The blogger has done a really good work in updating his blog. Keep it up

  • Android software is not bad but is still some way behind the smooth and silky Apple OS. It does offer things that Apple users can only dream about but it still needs polishing. I can’t really see Galaxy competing with the bigger Ipad if it’s not significantly cheaper. With this outrageous price tag I don’t see people buying this device. I would certainly go for the more mature and bigger Ipad. And, oh yes… cheaper as well.

  • There’s no way I’ll be buying one of these at that price, like you can bet ya bottom dollar the price will drop like dead flies.

  • I have a Samsung Galaxy S phone and it is a total disaster. A brief tour of the most serious annoyances:
    1. Syncing with Google Calendar is unreliable
    2. The headset jack pin layout means that you can’t use your own headphones to hear voice calls
    3. the battery life is barely 9 hours
    4. performance is very laggy
    5. contacts: you can’t synchronise groups with Google
    and it goes on

Some of these may seem cosmetic, but when you have to deal with them every ten minutes they are a real pain in the butt. The user experience is just terrible.

So the Galaxy tab? Ship them straight back to Singapore without taking them out of the container.

HTC are bound to come out with something decent.
