youtube-logo.jpgYouTube are preparing to go head-to-head with the likes of Ustream and Livestream as they today begin trialling their own live streaming service.

Still very much in the alpha stages of testing, the next 48 hours will see YouTube partners Howcast, Next New Networks, Rocketboom and Young Hollywood broadcast live with the video-hosting site.

It appears that this partner-based live streaming set-up is the way forward for YouTube’s live offering. It doesn’t seem that regular users will be able to set up live streams, now embed live streams across the web, but real-time comments between the broadcaster and other users will feature.

YouTube have in the past offered one-off live events, such as presidential speeches, and a U2 concert that drew in a staggering 10 million viewers.

  • This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. Thanks.
