iPad App Of The Day: djay
I recently came across this great iPad app for Dj’s and wannabees alike.
djay allows you to transform your iPad into a full-fledged DJ system, allowing you to mix your iPod music library on a hyper-realistic turntable interface. Perform live, record mixes on-the-go, or enable Automix mode and let djay mix your favorite playlist automatically. It even lets you beat match your tunes.
Available for £11.99, djay really is one of the first truly compelling DJ apps for the ipad. Algoriddim has managed to cram all the functionality of their popular laptop incarnation into this smaller more mobile platform. The interface is well designed and contains everything you would expect on an expensive controller. The app will allow you to load two songs from your iPod library, automatically detect and match their BPMs, crossfade between the two, speed and slow their pitches, set and trigger cue points, adjust EQ, and record. It also allows you to “scratch” records, manipulate playback.
This app is perfect for anyone who has ever wanted to be a DJ.
