CES 2011 VIDEO – Sony's Personal 3D headset
Share
Now this is more like it – we’ve yet to see anything quite as futuristically cool or genuinely technologically impressive as this Personal 3D headset from Sony.
Pop the Lawnmower Man-esque headset on and you’ll be presented with two small OLED displays in front of each eye. They offer a very impressive 3D view, each running at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with simulated 5.1 channel surround sound playing from earpieces that sit either side of your head over your ears.
It’s only a prototype at the moment, but it’s already working pretty fantastically, with a quick calibration procedure setting the headset up to work optimally with your head size/distance between each eye. Check out the video above to see the gear in action.

I would like to see the 3D personal headset WITHOUT the simulated 5.1 audio,so I could view 3D content without buying a new TV and use my existing Trinnov-optimized 5.1 audio system with the headset.
