BAFTA Video Games Awards: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood edges Call of Duty: Black Ops for nominations
The nominations for this year’s BAFTA Video Games Awards have been announced this morning, with Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood leading the pack ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Heavy Rain.
Ubisoft’s stealth action-adventure title has been given the nod for seven prizes, including ‘Action’, ‘Best Game’, ‘Gameplay’ and ‘Multiplayer’. It is joined in the ‘Best Game’ category by FIFA 11, Heavy Rain, Limbo, Mass Effect 2 and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Black Ops and Heavy Rain picked up six nominations, while Mass Effect 2 and Limbo have five and four nods respectively.
Our tip would be for the incredible Mass Effect 2 to clean up on the night, especially seeing as it’s obvious rival for game of the year, Red Dead Redemption, is out of contention for nearly all awards .
The wild west epic received no nominations due to developer Rockstar’s decision not to put the game forward for consideration.
The ceremony takes place at the London Park Lane Hilton on Wednesday, March 16. The full list of nominees are:
