iPhone 5 patent reveals possible visual contacts app
A new Apple patent suggests that the iPhone 5 may be getting a visual overhaul when it comes to how it presents your contacts.
People in your phone and email address book may now appear as a thumbnail image, rather than simply an alphabetised list of names. Organised into a grid, a quick tap of the photo will throw up all the information related to that particular contact.
Contacts will also be able to be grouped according to their social links, in much the same way that iOS now allows you to store apps in folders. For instance, you could group a gang of pals together behind the badge of their favourite football team, or workmates behind a company logo.
Of course, Apple patents don’t always result in an actual product, but with the advances in screen resolution seen in the iPhone 4, a more visual approach to contact sorting would likely be appreciated by many.
