Dell Streak 7 launches with attractive sub-£300 price tag
The Dell Streak 5 incher didn’t really hit the right notes when it launched in the middle of last year, but the Dell Streak 7, touching down today direct from Dell with a £299 price tag, seems a lot more attractive.
And that’s in no small part due to that sub-£300 cost, making it a whole £100 cheaper than the least expensive iPad 2.
It’s no slouch on the specs front either. Though a Wi-Fi only tablet, it’s packing a powerful 1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor and 16GB of internal storage under its 7 inch 800 x 480 touchscreen.
Gorilla Glass on the front should keep it well protected from bumps and scrapes, while a 1.3MP front facing camera for video calling and 5MP rear camera are of significantly higher quality than that of the iPad 2’s. As an Android 2.2 device, there’s also full Flash 10.1 support, again missing from the Apple tablet.
If Android tablets keep hitting the sub-£300 mark, Apple may finally have some real competition on their hands.
