ASUS planning quad-core Tegra 3 tablets?
Not much to go on here, but DigiTimes are reporting that ASUS may be about to blow the tablet competition out of the water by throwing up a handful of slates powered by quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipsets.
Built around the Kal-El quad core SOC first spotted at MWC 2011, it’s thought to be 5x more powerful than a Tegra 2 chipset, capable of powering 2560×1600 pixels on a mobile display, making 1080p playback a cakewalk.
NVIDIA plan to start roadmapping devices featuring the chip this August, giving some indication of when to expect to see more on ASUS’s new super powerful tablet range.
Elsewhere, ASUS are also said to be planning a new Intel-based tablet, likely running off the 1.5GHz Atom Z670, with a class-leading battery life and 1080p playback.
