HTC Salsa and ChaCha Facebook phones get 26th June launch date
Remember those Facebook branded handsets that launched at MWC 2011 earlier this year? The HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa? Yep? Got em? Good, because they’ve now been given official release dates thanks to Amazon UK.
We were expecting a Q2 launch for the phones but, slightly later than expected, we’ll see them shipping from the online retailer on June 26th.
In terms of specs, the ChaCha is of the full QWERTY variety, with a 2.6 inch touchscreen running at a resolution of 480×320. A 5MP camera with auto focus and flash features, as well as a front facing VGA camera. Under the hood sits a 600Mhz processor with 512MB of RAM.
The Salsa on the other hand is a full-touch screen model, aside from the Facebook button, with a 3.4 inch display running again at 480x 320. Other than that, specs wise it’s more or less identical to the ChaCha.
Both phones run Android version 2.3 with the HTC Sense overlay and, if you hadn’t quite figured it out yet, feature a dedicated button for both launching and logging into Zuckerberg’s social network.
According to Amazon, the Salsa will be the more expensive of the two, costing £319.99 SIM-free, while the ChaCha is a little bit more pocket-friendly at £249.99.
