iPhone 5 to come in "Pro" and "Standard" flavours?
You wait all year for rumours on one iPhone 5 model to be released, and then straight out of left-field comes news that we might have two new Jesus Phones to be clamouring over before 2011 is over.
The iPhone Download Blog believes they’ve found that Apple are planning to release the new iPhone in two variations: “Standard” and “Pro”.
With iPhones already available in various storage sizes, it raises the question as to what will be the differentiator between the two models, should Jobs and co opt for a tiered model for the new smartphone.
The news comes from an insider who works with Apple components. He says the Cupertino company are stockpiling parts that would not go together inside one single phone, which leads to the belief that two phones, one with better quality components and hardware, will be released.
Alternatively, the extra parts may be planned for an iPod Touch refresh, rather than a budget iPhone, though the fact that the iPhone 5 looks likely to miss the line’s annual June reveal date blurs the iPod/iPhone rumour categorisation boundaries that usually apply over the summer and into the autumn.
